What is the shelf life of your products?
To ensure that your products are used during their time of peak freshness, we recommend storing all products in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, using them within 12 months of purchase and within 6 months of opening. Because all of our ingredients are natural, occasionally there can be slight variation in colour from batch to batch.
Where are your products made?
Our products are made with great care and attention to detail at our SiSi Georgian Bay skincare studio, on the shores of Georgian Bay, in Pointe au Baril, Ontario.
How long have you been making natural skincare products?
We made our first product - Baby Balm - in 1998, and have been happily making natural skincare products ever since. We have developed great relationships with our suppliers and have expanded our line according to customer demand.
Do you ever test your products on animals?
No way. Absolutely not. Never. We only test our products on eager and willing humans.
When will my products be shipped?
We make all our products by hand and we like them to be as fresh as possible for you. We aim to ship your order within 2-4 business days. However, as we are a small business, there may be delays if we are handling a large volume of orders and at peak times. But we promise we will do everything in our power to get your products to you on time.
Where can I buy your products?
Our products are available for purchase on this site on our shop pages, at our brick and mortar location in Parry Sound, ON or you can find a full list of our retail partners across Canada here.
Do you have a rewards program?
Yes we do! Our Pretty Wild Rewards Program awards you with SiSi scents on every purchase, which you can then redeem for discounts. Check out the program by clicking on the "SiSi Scents" Rewards button on the bottom right of pages on this site.
How do I sign up for the rewards program?
If you already have an account, just log in before making purchases to start earning SiSi scents. If you don't already have an account, just click on the "SiSi Scents" Rewards button on the bottom right of site pages, then click on "Join Now" which will lead you to "create an account". Then you will be set up to start earning SiSi scents.
How do I view my SiSi scents balance?
Click on the "SiSi Scents" or "Rewards" button on the bottom right corner of site pages, to view your scents balance. You will also see your scents earned at check out when you make a purchase. You can also click on this button on any page it is visible.
How do I redeem my SiSi scents?
When you have earned enough scents for a discount coupon, you will be emailed a code to use at check out during your next purchase.
How do I send a referral coupon to a friend?
Click on the "SiSi Scents" or "Rewards" button on the bottom right hand corner of site pages to open the rewards launcher, which will prompt you to send a link to a friend for a $5 off coupon. Once your friend uses the coupon, you will be rewarded a $5 coupon on your account.
Why do you use amber glass bottles and jars?
We use amber glass, not only for aesthetics, but to protect the integrity of the product from sunlight. Maintaining the quality of the ingredients, will ensure product potency and effectiveness. An added benefit to choosing amber glass is the zero waste component, as they can be refilled, reused or recycled.
Do you use preservatives in your products?
Yes we do use a natural preservative system in our products that contain water, and you can learn more about this in our blog post on natural preservatives. Our products that do not contain water (such as balms) do not require preservatives, but we do add anti-oxidant ingredients like vitamin e oil to extend the shelf life (up to 2 years) and add extra skin-loving benefit.
How do you scent your products?
We only use 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils, or 100% natural flavour oils to gently scent our products. We will never use synthetic fragrances to scent our products.
In what order do I apply your face products?
It is important to apply your face care products in the proper order for optimal efficacy. Here is a guideline to use:- Cleanser
- Toner / Face Mist
- Hydrous Serums (containing water) such as Hyaluronic Acid Serum
- Lotion / Cream
- Anhydrous Serums (does not contain water) such as Argan Rosehip Face Serum
How do I apply face serums?
Face serums are best applied to damp skin, as this helps them to absorb more easily. It is best to pat them on gently. You can apply to your palms, gently rub together, then pat gently onto face. Apply anhydrous serums (does not contain water) last, as they are occlusive and hydrous (containing water) products will not penetrate them.
How do I apply your clay masks?
We package our clay masks dry (they also contain botanical extracts), to prolong freshness and avoid the use of preservatives. Also, this way you can mix your mask with water, or flower water, or aloe vera juice, and/or honey, or whichever liquid you love, to whatever thickness you desire. Apply your mask to clean skin and leave on for no more than 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry. Learn more about clay face masks and recommendations for skin types on our blog post.
Are your products safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
We use very low concentrations of essential oils to scent our face/body care products (less than1%) so they are safe to use. However, if you wish to err on the side of caution, it is best to avoid using essential oils altogether during the first trimester. During the second and third trimesters, and while breastfeeding, we always recommend consulting your doctor, or mid-wife, or certified aromatherapist, however we do not recommend using our Aromatherapy Sprays and Rollers, which contain 10% essential oil dilution, OR our Muscle Rub which contains 8% essential oil dilution OR our Chest Rub which contains 5% essential oil dilution OR our Outdoor Scents Regular and Kids which contain 5% and 2.5% essential oil dilutions respectively. Sometimes aromatherapy is better to use than medications, but just on a short-term basis and again, only under a healthcare professional’s supervision. The Outdoor Scents Baby contains 1% dilution and does not contain Clove Bud essential oil, so could be used in the second and third trimesters under your doctor’s, mid-wife’s or certified aromatherapist’s supervision.
Are all your products safe to use on babies?
All our Baby products are formulated with gentle plant derived ingredients using extremely low concentrations of essential oils (less than .01%), so they are safe to use. Our company started - and was formerly known as "SiSi Started It" - to fill a need for safe, clean baby products. However, we do not recommend using products with over 1% essential oil dilution on babies up to 2 years old, or over 2.5% dilution on kids 2 to 6 years old, which includes our Aromatherapy Sprays and Rollers, Muscle Rub, Chest Rub and Outdoor Scents Regular and Kids formulas. We have an Outdoor Scents Baby, which contains a 1% essential oil dilution, and does not contain Clove Bud oil, so can be used on babies over 3 months old. But please consult your doctor before using essential oils on babies under 6 months old and feel free to do your own research on safety guidelines according to essential oil dilution ratios.
